What does transformation mean?  Changing form or shape.  This picture is named “transformation” and reveals fermenting chardonnay.  It could be called “Jewels in Space.”

The Grape and Wine are perfect metaphors and examples of transformation – by sight, taste and inner expression.

From the perspective of a microscope, grape juice reveals tiny geometric forms, squares and triangles.  But when yeast does its dance with the juice, the forms are enlightened, grow larger and a little more complex.  I see fermentation as the first stage in transformation.

More miracles begin as fermentation completes itself.  Complexity and larger forms appear. And then we are able to sip and discover how we might be transformed by an exceptional bottle of wine.  What makes it exceptional depends on the vineyard, winemaking and our own experience.  Andrew Weil in his book From Chocolate to Morphine would say that the set and setting influences our experience.  That means where we are and who we are with effects our perceptions.

We don’t need an expensive 95 point wine to be transformed by the experience.  We do need people to enjoy it with and appreciation for all that went into the wine and our friendships.  Cheers!
