Over the last few years “intention” has been a buzz word for new age and transformational healers, teachers and business leaders. If you intend something it has to come true, if you intend hard enough.
“What is your intent for this work. Picture your intention and take action, we’ve been told.”
Intention on its own carries power. When you allow yourself to look inside what is your intent? What gift do you have that you must share, or that you’re afraid to share?
My intention has been to broaden people’s understanding and appreciation of their invisible helpers – their cells; to show how CELLS R US.
And to that end I make a calendar of things to do to share more of the cells’ wisdom and intelligence –
that’s when I get “In Tension.”
“In Tension” is a tightening of the body, mind and cells. I forget my intention when lost in tension.
And only when I get to that still place inside and listen beyond intent, some of the tension falls away.
As someone who continues to think in terms of my cellular universe – it was tension and intention that woke me up to their connection.
When our cells are “in tension”, we shut down, we’re locked into a tight space of being stuck in place. Our jaw and muscles feel tight and tense.
And yet when our intention is to simply be present, the tension disappears.
Of course, the researcher in me had to look up the meanings of intent/intention/tension and was I surprised. Perhaps you will be, too.
Not surprising that some of the definitions for tension/tense include firm, rigid, stubborn and unbending
while intent/intention, besides purpose, view, and determination, means meditation or contemplation.
So even through our words in tension can be softened by intention.
A way out of tension is contemplation.
Imagine that.
Our body knows.
