My goal has been to walk every day. Sometimes that’s more of a challenge considering that the first half-mile is UP on my typical walk.
This morning as my mind complained about – did we have to, it was so hard – another ‘little voice’ said – you are not the only one here.
My AHA moment – the mind is NOT in charge, that there is a partnership, a true partnership between mind and body. My body wanted to walk; my mind threatened to retreat. It is the cooperation of both that contributes to our health and well-being.
I’ve often said that I’m taking my cells for a walk to motivate me, when in fact, the walk is a collaboration between cells and consciousness. My body can’t talk except in aches and pains, delights and ecstacy. My mind can overrule everything yet if it does the body cells don’t have a chance and they are the vessel that carries mind around.
So next time your mind says it doesn’t want to do something, realize that your body has a say too for the overall health of YOU.
Since I am someone who likes to track, I use Map My Walk, a wonderful site that allows you to map miles, track how much you’ve walked, run, worked out, the calories used, food eaten. Very useful for folks who like numbers.
