There are lots of views about “In the Beginning.” One of the most common ‘INITIATORS’ of CREATION is SOUND.
In the beginning was the word, was the sound, was the thought, was the Big Bang.
No matter the myth, sound in some form played an essential role in creation.
Since sound is actually vibrating waves of energy, sound waves must also be able to assist in our present creative moments. Sound and stretching – whatever shifts the energy and tone of our cells.
For life is AS ABOVE, SO BELOW. More on that later.
One of my heroes, Matthew Fox says that Creation is ongoing. Some mystic rabbis say the same thing.
Life began – now what do we do with the gift, the present?
My work explores the myths of creation and hidden symbols in our cells integrating science, art and spirituality. I call this CELLULAR MYTHOLOGY. I will show to you the molecular design of our cells along with its correspondence in ancient sacred teachings. And ask the question, did our molecules design how to honor life?
A MOLECULAR VIEW OF CREATION
For sure, it took the right molecules at the right time and environment to create the container for life. I call the container, sanctuary. The great theologian/biologist Teilhard de Chardin wrote that because molecules embrace, love is possible in us. We embrace, molecules merge and change. Life begins.
The fatty hydrocarbons connected, embracing the sea water and other ingredients in that primordial soup, readying that container for the divine spark of life. And if the primordial soup was actually a stew or shale, something more forceful would have to unite the molecules.
The above collage was created years ago for my first ever art show – Calistoga Bookstore; owners Neil and Cathrun Murray. My friend Bethany Argisle was the other artist showing. I sold my first piece there. This collage was in the front window. I made this when I was teaching about the Elements of Life as one of the creation myths.
