This wine gave me butterflies in all the right places. What visions do your favorite wines express?

Photographs of wine through a polarizing microscope offer unique and compelling ways to learn about and enjoy wine. They also capture a glimpse into the story of one wine’s life. And of course, they are an expression of the winemaker’s art. This image is from the artful winemaking of Heidi Peterson Barrett, her La Sirena Moscato Azul.

La Sirena 2007 PirateAnother beauty from Heidi’s stellar wines – La Sirena 2007 Pirate TreasuRed, a blend of 7 grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Grenache, and Petite Sirah .  “Across the palate it’s broad, mouth filling and powerful with unusually sweet tannins, and a long finish. A big, black, bold wine with distinct personality and style.”

I’d say by its expression it is a full-hearted tickling wine.
