Investigating the links between science and spiritual traditions, I’ve discovered an uncanny quality in biology, architecture and spirituality I call threeness. A code of 3 is hidden in our cells and molecules.

  • The genetic code is  made up of 3 letters.  AAA     ATA   GCT
  • Our brains are called TRIune constructed of 3 anatomically and functionally different areas – brain stem, limbic and cerebral cortex.
  • The pantheons of many religious traditions are also threesomes -for example
  1. Christianity’s Father, Son, Holy Spirit
  2. Judiasm’s Yahveh, Shekinah, Ruach;
  3. the Hindu Brahma, Shiva, Vishnu – just to name a few.

In the physicial universe, the triangle is the first stable structure; it is reiterated at all levels of design.  As above, so below.  Look at the design of the most stable human-made structure, the geodesic dome – triangles.

SO…

I put this to you as a personal exploration – since “3” is essential in building our genes, bodies and religious philosophies, can we use it to help build or recreate our own lives?

I am always looking for the practical in science and spirituality – what if you did your practice in 3s. An example –

  1. State an intent, reaching up to the sky
  2. Bringing your hands to your heart or belly, repeat your intent or action you will do to help
  3. Bending down to touch the earth saying I’ll do whatever it takes.

This could be about initiating or staying with an exercise program, a business plan, a mental shift.

What if you declared an intention with 3 gestures – mind, body and spirit.  Try it and let us know if performing a ritual 3 times for 3 days or 30 makes a difference in your life.

The Triad is the form of completion of all things.
