A cold wet Sunday afternoon and I’m forced to look at  a question that maybe you can help me with.

What do singles who enjoy wine, yet are alone, choose to drink?

I made beautiful rare lamb chops and roasted potatoes, no greens sorry, and wanted to warm up this afternoon.  Do I open a bottle of red only to have it go bad by the time I could finish it later this week or settle for a brew?  Actually, neither for today.  I chose port.  I know that’s not traditional for lamb and I wondered how would it pair with rosemary?  Really well.   The link takes you to the brand of port – ruby, not the year, alas.  I got mine at Trader Joe’s for about $8.  However I have discovered some wonderful local port that’s a lot better – Sonoma Portworks has a couple of types, chocolate, petite sirah port and definitely worth the extra bucks.  And they are nearby – walking distance when not raining.

Yet what do other singletons do?  At best, on my own, a simple glass is suffice, with a friend we can finish the bottle.  But here I am working on business with the heat going, candles burning and had to have some spirits… port anyone?
