Some wines express exquisite beauty under the eye of the microscope, like this featured image.

The famed mentor of California winemakers, Andre Tchelistcheff, called this images the JEWELS OF WINE.  This one certainly is.  Some wines express more rounded ‘jewelry’ while others would certainly make for an elaborate diamond broach.

Yet these are simple actual photomicrographs of the expressions of the collaboration of molecules in wine.  They reveal patterns that perhaps our palate interprets as soft of angular, vital or flabby.

I had some stellar wines last night, winners of the North of the Gate Wine Competition – reminded me of my love affair with the grape.
